Don’t be boring this Father’s Day – we have 5 gift ideas for you!

Why do we always go for the traditional gifts for dad for Fathers Day? The socks, gadgets and DIY, ring a bell? Our first instinct is to grab the all familiar, sometimes impulsive or last minute item off the shelf. Well not all of us, we know some of you go that extra mile to spoil your dad, planning in advance and choosing just the right item to show how much you love him.

For those that need a little more guidance on picking something a little different this year we have put a list together for you:

1- A day at the spa for him – most of our fathers work hard each day and have plenty stress weighing them down. They would not think twice about booking themselves some indulgence at the spa. So why not make the decision for them and help them take the leap. They get to really relax, let that stress melt away and enjoy the day. This might even be his first time having a spa treatment, so maybe choose something you know your dad will be comfortable with.

2- Weekend away, if your budget allows, nothing beats some quality time together and creating more family memories. Weather this is for your dad or your husband, or both, bringing everyone together in a beautiful setting with activities and shared experiences is one of the books and something awesome to post to Facebook.

3- Are your kids still small? Why not do some arts and crafts? Not all gifts need to cost an arm and a leg, they may cost you some soap and extra cleaning up as you try to remedy the paint that has found its way onto everything. Pinterest has hundreds of Fathers Day craft ideas to use for inspiration and it’s something fun to keep the children entertained too. They will run through Sunday morning with more pep in their step, knowing they did it themselves.

4 – We as women would like to give those DIY tools and projects to our hubbies, with a giant hint, hint for them to do all those items we have had on the “to do list” – but maybe dad wants to be celebrated for being a dad. Raising his kids and having something that reflects his contribution? Why not some lovely framed photos of your kids? A set to put in his office or you could arrange a fun family shoot.

5 – Plan a fun activity, has dad wanted to always do something and never taken the leap? Think… shark cage diving, getting that tattoo he always wanted, learning to cook with professional lessons or taking up a new hobby?

For me, one of their greatest achievements – is not all the amazing treatments they provide. But the upliftment and jobs created for many young ladies across our country. The therapists that join La Vita, are put through extensive training, that does not just stop at employment, but workshops and continued support are given throughout their time with La Vita. Many of the ladies have worked up from therapist to manager to regional manager.

3 Beauty Time Saving Tips

We are all trying to save time every day to make room for things that are more important, like catching up with your best friend over a glass of wine, playing with your kids or cooking your partner that fabulous dinner you saw on Masterchef the other night.

Did you know that going to a spa can save you time during the week… yes it really can! It might seem a little indulgent of time, but that 15-40 minutes can end up being a big time saver when you really need it. Plus you get to look fabulous while doing it!

1 – Eyebrow and Eyelash tint:

If you are fair of colour and pencil in your brows, why not consider having your eyebrows tined by a professional, save yourself a few minutes in the morning applying the colour.

2 – Gel nails:

Who hates it when your nails chip? I know I do! Not having to reapply or start over really helps that save you 15-20 minutes a day.

3 – Waxing:

Did you know that when you wax your legs and other parts… it takes longer for the hair to grow back? What a time saver not having to shave your legs every second day?

This elegant colour palette has been trending for awhile, popularised by Kylie Jenner, who dons variations of the style. Nail polish colours can range from white, soft pink through to taupe, beige to light and dark grey.

Those wanting to be a bit more adventurous will add some additional ‘bling’. Our advice is do this to one of your nails, this is super cool and a little more chic.

Don’t cut your beauty budget just yet!

If you are feeling the pinch of the festive season spending and thinking about what you can cut back on. WAIT… don’t cut this beauty essential from your list.

Did you know there are health benefits to getting a manicure and pedicure? Yes really...

Not only do they make your hands and feet look fabulous, but they keep you in top shape too!

Daily our hands and feet are exposed to dirt and germs, even though we do bathe and wash our hands, grime can build up, so it’s not such a bad idea to pamper and take care of them.

Here is a list of health benefits:

Exfoliating can help remove dead skin cells, and callous build ups. This process also gives the hands and feet a more attractive appearance.

A professional pedicure can also alert you to any potential fungal infections before it spreads. This is why regular treatments can keep your feet in tip top shape throughout the year.

Increased circulation is another benefit, the gentle massage during your treatment, results in increased blood flow. Those suffering with pain in their hands or ache in the soles of their feet can find relief.

It’s also not all about the physical, your mental health benefits too.  Getting to sit still, relax, unwind and have some ‘me’ time is so important. Relaxation helps with stress relief, which in turn contributes to a healthier you! It also works wonders for your self-esteem, when you have well-groomed hands and feed

La Vita Spas has a range of treatments to chose from, and look out from time to time for some amazing specials to help out your budget.

Makeup Tricks to help Oily Skin

Warmer days are coming, this means those of us that suffer from oily skin are going to start gleaming more! Yikes! I for one much prefer my face to have a lovely matt look, how about you?

If you wear make-up each day, it can be a struggle to keep it on. Oily skin can cause your makeup to fade and melt off easily. If you are like me and want to make sure you maintain your look throughout the day. Here are a few tips and tricks that will not only prevent shine and keep makeup from fading.

Toner

Always use a toner to wipe your face before you apply any makeup to your face. Toner helps to remove excess oil without stripping the skin of essential oils.

Prepare the skin

Always prep your skin before you begin your daily makeup ritual. Use a primer. Primer acts as a base and also ensures that your makeup stays on for a longer period of time.

Carry a face powder

Face powder helps set your foundation, combat shine and soaks up any residual oil. Don’t use powders that have a shine or shimmer as that would make your face look oily.

 Matte products

Choose products that are shine-free. Use a matte powder and blush that will last longer and give a matte finish.

Also don’t forget that getting a facial can help to keep your skin in good condition and remove impurities. La Vita Spas offers a wonderful soothing facial. Visit the website to find out more.

Try Body Brushing Today!

I have started incorporating body brushing in my everyday lifestyle. It is a traditional technique to help remove dead skin, build-up and stimulate the lymphatic system, help eliminate waste. Some experts claim that body brushing can even dissolve cellulite and prevent premature ageing while obtaining brighter, smoother, softer looking skin.

 Stimulates your Lymphatic System

The lymphatic system is responsible for eliminating cellular waste products. Lymphatic congestion doesn’t allow drainage of toxins and waste from the body that could lead to inflammation and disease. Dry brushing every day stimulates your lymphatic system and helps release toxins.

Exfoliate

Dry brushing removes dead skin cells and unclogs blocked pores allowing your skin to breathe and improves its appearance.

Eliminate Metabolic Waste

Dry brush every day before bath to increase blood circulation and remove metabolic waste.

Feel Good

Dry brushing can have an invigorating effect. Apart from tightening skin and improving its appearance, a quick session of dry brushing can make you feel energized and rejuvenated.

 Improve Digestion

Dry brushing can help with bloating as it massages the lymph nodes and helps in shedding of excess water and toxins. It also improves digestion and kidney function.

I Exfoliate My Skin….Do You?

La Vita Spa I exfoliate my skin at least two times a week using the Delicious Body Exfoliator that I buy from La Vita Spa. The exfoliator has apricot seed powder that keeps my skin glowing. I have been using this exfoliator for the past two years. Exfoliation is one of the most important skincare routines for your face and body. It assists in removing dead skin, blackheads and whiteheads and also smoothens your skin texture to reveal radiant and flawless skin.

Here are some tips in getting your exfoliation routine right.

Always chose the correct exfoliator for your skin type so that you get the desired results. If you have a normal skin type use a scrub with finely ground particles with lactic acid that will absorb oil from your “T-Zone”. For dry skin rather use a exfoliator with super fine particles and ingredients such as brown sugar and grape seed oil.

  • When you exfoliate your skin, exfoliate in circular motion and let the product do the job. Don’t be heavy – handed with your scrub or you will cause redness and skin sensitivity.
  • If you have a normal skin type or an oily skin type exfoliate your face twice a week but if your skin is sensitive only exfoliate once a week.
  • After you exfoliate, wash your face with Luke warm water and pat dry with a towel, use a night cream or hydrating serum to lock in the moisture. I use the La Vera night cream for my face.
